Shoreline Restoration Through Thoughtful Design and Permitting

Shoreline restoration projects in Washington require more than good design—they demand a clear understanding of shoreline permitting and coordination across multiple agencies. City, state, and federal regulations all play a role, making early planning and experienced guidance essential to getting it right.

For this project, our team partnered with SCJ Studio – Landscape Architecture to transform an existing concrete bulkhead into a naturalized beach cove planted with native vegetation. The result is a shoreline that restores ecological balance while enhancing the beauty and long-term health of the waterfront.

Replacing a hard shoreline structure with a softer, naturalized edge required careful permitting strategy alongside thoughtful landscape and architectural design. By aligning regulatory requirements with the project’s design goals from the start, the team was able to move through approvals efficiently while supporting a solution that respects the site and its environment.

This type of shoreline work reflects how we approach complex projects throughout Washington—whether waterfront, upland, or environmentally sensitive. We focus on clarity, collaboration, and design decisions that are grounded in both experience and practicality.
