Greenwood DADU
This Greenwood property was reimagined with the addition of a detached accessory dwelling unit, replacing an existing garage with a compact, fully functional living space. The design was carefully developed to complement the architecture of the main home, ensuring the new structure feels cohesive within the site.
At approximately 660 square feet, the DADU is organized to maximize both efficiency and comfort. The main level includes a compact kitchen with a mobile island, allowing the space to adapt to different uses, along with an open living area that connects directly to the outdoors. Two large folding doors open to the yard, extending the living space and creating a seamless indoor–outdoor experience for gathering and everyday use.
The upper level is designed to feel open and light-filled despite the smaller footprint. A vaulted ceiling creates vertical volume, while stacked windows in the gable end and strategically placed dormers bring in natural light throughout the day. This level accommodates a bedroom, bathroom, office nook, and built-in storage, balancing privacy with functionality.
Throughout the project, careful attention was given to proportion, light, and flexibility—ensuring that each square foot works efficiently without feeling constrained.
The result is a thoughtfully designed accessory dwelling that expands the usability of the property while maintaining architectural continuity—an example of how smaller-scale living can still feel open, intentional, and connected to its surroundings.
