Greenwood Remodel

GREENWOOD SECOND STORY ADDITION & REMODEL

The Greenwood Second Story Addition & Remodel reimagined a 1924 home to better support modern family living while preserving the character that drew the owners to the neighborhood. The existing house needed more space, a clearer main floor layout, and a basement with usable ceiling height, all without losing the integrity of the original structure.

The remodel addressed these challenges through a series of strategic interventions. Lowering the basement floor created valuable new living space, while a new concrete slab in the former crawlspace allowed for dedicated mechanical and storage areas. Above, a completely new second floor was added to accommodate a primary suite, two additional bedrooms, and a loft, all achieved while preserving the existing main floor ceilings below.

To further expand how the home could be used, a rooftop patio was created above the street-level garage, providing a private outdoor space for gathering and relaxation. The result is a thoughtfully layered home that balances old and new, offering significantly improved functionality while remaining rooted in its Greenwood setting.
