Nesika Chuck Floating Home

The Nesika Chuck Floating Home is a thoughtfully remodeled residence positioned along Lake Union, capturing expansive views from Gas Works Park to the Seattle skyline. Originally full of distinctive character, the home was reimagined to enhance livability while preserving its unique floating-home identity.

The remodel focused on strengthening the connection between interior spaces and the surrounding water. Carefully placed windows and doors frame sweeping lake and city views, allowing light to move fluidly throughout the home. Rooftop and exterior gathering spaces extend daily living outward, reinforcing the seamless indoor–outdoor relationship that defines waterfront architecture in the Pacific Northwest.

Inside, warm wood ceilings, rich finishes, and custom detailing create a layered, inviting atmosphere. The design balances playfulness and comfort, offering spaces where children can explore and imagine while adults relax and entertain. Vertical circulation and strategic spatial planning maximize openness within the compact footprint typical of floating homes.

This project celebrates the distinctive geometry and personality of floating-home living on Lake Union. Rather than redefining its character, the remodel refined it—elevating materials, improving flow, and ensuring long-term functionality within the complex structural and shoreline requirements unique to Seattle’s floating communities.

The result is a one-of-a-kind waterfront home that blends craftsmanship, creativity, and technical precision—an enduring example of modern floating home architecture in Seattle.
