To respect the number of trees on the site and to position the house near enough but separate from the main house, ecco gave the guest house downscaled proportions while still capturing the intimage view of the peaceful bay beyond the bluff. These proportions lend a more playful approach to the structure, too, making it nearly an overgrown doll house for visiting families with kids. The petite structure was composed luxuriously, but subtly so – in materials, in framed views, in positioning and architectural elements – so as to treat guests to a weekend in style. This project's success arose from balancing the site and surroundings with style and composition.
