QUEEN ANNE NEW HOME
The Queen Anne New Home was designed for clients who appreciated the character of traditional Queen Anne architecture while also valuing the warmth and craftsmanship of Craftsman detailing. The goal was to create a home that felt welcoming and livable, with space for a growing family, generous storage, and clear separation between shared and private areas.
An open floor plan encourages connection and interaction, while thoughtful zoning throughout the home allows for moments of privacy. A full primary suite, ample bedrooms for children, and flexible spaces for living and study were integrated alongside expansive views of Lake Union, downtown, and the Cascade Mountains.
The steeply sloping site presented the project’s greatest challenge and ultimately shaped its architectural expression. A daylight basement guest suite opens directly onto a patio, framed by Craftsman columns that support the structure above. This layered approach, combined with a carefully modulated façade, helps the home sit comfortably within a neighborhood defined by both modest historic houses and newer construction.
The result is a thoughtfully composed residence that balances tradition and modern living, responds directly to its site, and feels grounded within the evolving fabric of the Queen Anne neighborhood.
